Help Me Graduate! Q&A Time.

So, my senior thesis revolves around the communication differences between men and woman on the topics of love, sex, and relationships, and if there's any way to write for both sexes so that they'd be equally interested in the material.

That being said, if you could answer the following question-- anonymously is fine-- just including your gender, in the comments section, you'd be doing me a TREMENDOUS favor, and, also, adding onto what will end up being a pretty kick-ass, real-life expose post about men and women's relationships: "What is your biggest pet-peeve in communicating (or in general,) with the opposite sex?"

Example: "That instead of listening to the entire situation I'm telling him when I want to vent, my boyfriend immediately focuses on how to 'fix' it, instead of just listening to me. I'm female."

Thanks, loves!
XOXO

  2. Instead of discussing the problem and how to fix it, he gives short, normally one-word answers and just wants to end the conversation.

  3. I don't like how guys aren't really upfront about their feelings. It can be a guy whose interested in me and won't say it (which is really awkward when, say, I'm dating someone else, or just not interested in him). Or it can be someone I'm dating. For example, I could always tell when my ex was mad about something, but when I asked him what was wrong, he would say "everything's fine" and be short for the rest of the conversation. Until, at last, after minutes of trying to cajole it out of him, the truth would emerge from his lips. Good lord, I get not wanting to 'fess up maybe if he didn't get a promotion at work, or something, but when it's about me, I want to know, dammit!

  5. I really dislike it when we are having a fight or serious discussion and he uses "I love you" to diffuse the tension. We are in a long-term relationship. I know that he loves me. And I know that he is saying it to try and make me feel better. But hearing "I love you" ten times during a conversation (especially when I'm angry or upset) kind of dulls the magic those words can hold.

That because I have big boobs men think it's okay to skip the personality part and expect sex right away.

Also when there's no compromise in a relationship/friendship/etc between something someone likes and something the other doesn't.

  7. Most social conversations have an overtone of "I'm evaluating you as a potential partner, but will never actually say what I think because I'd rather not deal with your XY-emotions."

  8. Girls are rarely direct enough, us guys are idiots and need to be told if we have a chance or not.

  10. Guys don't want our baggage, and when we try to talk about things really personal, they just digress from the conversation. I'm female.
